Ask the "Dr." . . . . . .

PathSeeker Center does things differently.

We provide effective therapy that everyone can afford.  We also aren't afraid to "think outside the box."

One of the comforting presences you will meet at the Lutz office of PathSeeker Center  is our therapy dog, "Dr." Bohdi.  Bohdi sits in on some counseling sessions to lend his expertise.  He puts our younger clients at ease, and even has been known to help calm down volatile marital situations.

Recently we had a chance to interview Dr. Bohdi and ask some vexing mental health questions:

Q.  I’m a student and enjoyed my Holiday break.  I’m having a hard time getting back used to my school schedule.  What if I forget everything?

photo  I’m pretty sure that the Quadratic Equation is all you need to know to get through most schooling.  It applies to almost everything.  And even if it doesn’t; no one will know what you are talking about anyway.

Q.  Did anyone ever tell you that you look like an Ewok?

A.

photo  Preposterous!  I don’t see the resemblance:

Q.  What do I do about anxiety?

photo  What is making you anxious?  Thunder?  Because thunder is seriously scary.  Everything else pales in comparison.  If you are anxious about something else besides thunder, you are wasting your time.

**added note** For more on my extreme hatred of thunder, visit my blog and post your agreement that thunder is truly Public Enemy #1!

Q.  What kind of medicine is best to take for Bipolar Disorder?

photo  Whatever medicine you are prescribed, just remember to put it inside a piece of hot dog.  That makes it taste better when you swallow it with your kibble.

Q.  Recently I’ve been losing things all the time.  What should I do?

photo  I suggest that you purchase "the Clapper."  You can set this device to turn off and on electronics by clapping.  Will this help you find your keys?  No.  But it's really cool.

Q.  I noticed that you are “Dr.” Bohdi.  Where did you receive your PH.D.?

photo  I went to the same school where "J," Teeth, Doom, Who, Severinsen and Seuss all received their Doctorates.

Q.  I see that you don’t talk much in interviews.  Why so silent?

photo       . . . .

Q.  Recently you had an extensive medical procedure.  Anything you want to share about that?

photo  The staff at New Tampa Animal Hospital were wonderful.  They carried me around all day and gave me lots of love and support.  I want to have a medical procedure every day.  Well, without the procedure. . . . or the pain.

Q.  I think my husband might be depressed.  All he does is eat and lay around.  What do you think?

photo  I think I might be depressed too; that's all I do.  Seriously, if someone in your family is depressed, it's a good idea to refer them to us.  They can come and sit on our couch; I'm not always allowed on the couch.

Q.  Is it ok to take depression medicine?  I don't want to take medicine my whole life.

photo  One time I had a bad infestation of fleas.  I had to take flea medicine to get rid of the fleas.  After they were gone, I felt much better--and I was able to stop the medicine.

Q.  Sometimes I get really angry.  Is it ok to be angry?

photo  When I get angry, I growl.  I think it's important to talk about your feelings.  I can't go around biting people, but I should let people know how I feel.  Especially when I'm hungry. . . . which is most of the time.

Q.  How should I deal with stress.

photo One of the best ways to deal with stress is to live simply.  I don't have much; a bowl, a bed, friends.  I'm happy.

Q.  What is the most important mental health advice you can give?

photo  If I could talk human speech, I would share with people that God is real.  I know who created me.
